The Prevention and Reform Project, run by the Next Gen Movement, aims to highlight the issues around knife crime, antisocial behaviour and other violent crimes within our community and establish relationships and trust to prevent and reform such issues.

They provide prevention tools for those who are vulnerable to becoming involved in such activity, whilst ensuring a rehabilitation process is in place for those who have been or are still involved in violence.

The prevention aspect of the work supports children aged 8 to 18  through online workshops, seminars and resources. This  includes everything from musical production to mental health resources. A Personal Development Plan will be created for each child, which will focus on creating a long term plan outside of mentoring and counselling, such as building community relationships and finding a passion or potential career path.

The reform work stream will be targeted at those aged around 18 to 24 and will focus on providing mentoring and counselling that is highly appropriate and accessible. Participants who require and wish to proceed with services to combat their trauma will be referred to accredited counsellors to ensure expert support for each individual.

In the final three months of the project, participants will choose where to give 20 hours of their time in volunteering work. This will give people pride in contributing positively to their community as well as to develop a range of transferable skills.
